Of Human Nature

JENNIFER EHLE
Jennifer Ehle as Lizzy Bennet

There are few people whom I really love, and still fewer of whom I think well. The more I see of the world, the more am I dissatisfied with it; and every day confirms my belief of the inconsistency of all human characters, and of the little dependence that can be placed on the appearance of merit or sense. – Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice.

  1. So many great lines in P&P – I love one from early on, “you wish to tell me, and I have no objection to hearing it” – I try to fit that into conversation when speaking to Austen fans!

    1. Ah, great to know you are one! I haven’t read Pnp in a while (I think it’s been a year, I re-read it almost every year!) but I’m guessing that line is by Mr. Bennet? It’s, predictably, my favourite book. Endlessly memorable lines, dialogue or description. What other Austen books do you enjoy? I love Persuasion.
