Of Our Sorrows

Papers in the roadside tell of suffering and greed
Fear today, forgot tomorrow
Besides the news of holy war and holy need
Ours is just a little sorrowed talk.

  1. LOVE this song – had never been certain what the last line was, nice to read it hear Amrita. Perhaps Duran Duran is the Dickens we were talking about, dismissed by many in their time, held up as the standard decades later?

    1. Ha, that is a comparison of great potential! It is hard to come by positive or even weighted criticism of Duran Duran. Apart from your ingenious graph, I think it was on AllMusic that I read someone speculating on the need to revise the general criticism of their music. I get why their sensibilities would grate on the typical rock music critic. But, it is good, interesting music that can stand sans image, though I respect that they chose not to discard their image and reinvent themselves.

I used to think that last line went “Ours is just a little sorrow, that’s all”, which gives me great comfort in moments of self-pity! I haven’t listened to the whole album, but I love “Come Undone” and “Breath after Breath” too.
