Love Song

Write me a love song, baby
Write me tonight
Write me a love song, baby
Send it as my valentine

Just take a bit of staff paper
Even a napkin would do
Tell them “How I made her”
Fall in love with you

Write me a love song, baby
Write it tonight
Write me a love song, baby
It’s all I ask for Valentine’s

Remember when Rob wrote one
For Mary, as a wedding present?
Our lovesong will be as deary
All emotion waiting on a bend

Write me a love song, baby
One true blue tonight
Write me a love song, baby
A few bars to sing high

Every note you write for money
Write once for love
It won’t take much learning
An honest heart should be enough

Write me a love song, baby
A sad little one tonight
Write me a love song, baby
To sing by the candlelight

Soldiers were married by St. Valentine
Before they went to war
You bought me a choker last February
Is that what our love was for?

Write me a love song, baby
Of sweet love, tonight
Write me a love song, baby
Let’s kiss and never fight.

    1. Thank you! Actually, I wanted to call it “Jazz Song” because I imagined a female jazz nightclub singer with her producing/songwriting husband whose collective talents have made them rich and famous. I do have a tune for it, but will need to work it out on the keyboard. Even then, I don’t have the “voice” for it!
