The thing about a quote is, you want too much from it. You turn to some great person, or they visit you, and share some truism about life, with which you wish to do two things: explain your life to yourself, and save it. Maybe, that’s why there are very few quotes that last in our memory. They may work on us temporarily, or completely escape comprehension. But the ones that stick don’t do so because they are by so-and-so, but because they both explained us and saved us more permanently than the other quotable greats.
A short, quote-like post from me, because I couldn’t find anything suitable to share with you this fine Sunday. For a more detailed essay on quotations, click here. For a collection of quotes shared every Sunday by yours truly, click here.
