My Solitaire, My Diamond Heart

Took my ring and flung it into the ocean
The one with which you called your devotion
It carried my tears into the salty waters
Took away everything that ever mattered

My solitaire, my diamond heart
You’re a piece of me
Yet you take me apart
Set alone, but tied to my emotions
You never were all your proclamations.

Note: This was a little poppy lyric I wrote for a songwriting class. I never wrote another verse or a bridge, so here it is, as a poem.
