How to change your PSN ID

Sony had originally claimed that all games released after April 1st, 2018 would support this feature but as it turns out some games may not be compatible after all as stated by Sony in a recent blog post.

You can find out more information about the PSN Online ID Change feature over at the PlayStation blog at the link below.

After this initial free offering, you'll have to pay $9.99 ($4.99 for PlayStation Plus subscribers) to change your name.

You can revert back to your old user ID as long as the name doesn't violate the Terms of Service. One of the only limitations is on children's accounts which do not have the ability to change their online ID.

After changing your PSN ID, issues you may run into include: loss of in-game progression, loss of some in-game functionality, inability to access DLC.

With the new name change option, this issue seems to still not be completely ironed out. That said, Sony does not guarantee all games fully support the feature. As such, be wary of what older games you play after changing and be absolutely sure you want to change it before doing so. Also, it seems that some games published after April 2018 don't support this feature, even though they were all supposed to be developed with the feature in mind.

For some Trump critics, this was yet another example of the chaos that supposedly reigns in the White House. Nielsen went into the White House on Sunday to meet with Trump.

Overall this feature somehow lowers the chances of players getting banned. But, by and large, changing the nickname in PSN should not affect most of the games available. PS3 and PS Vita games are not supported.

Sony compiled a list of 10 titles that are known to have "critical issues" relating to the name-change feature, including LittleBigPlanet 3, Disc Jam, and Just Dance 2017. However, during testing, there was one instance where it did not work with a game made after April 1, 2018.

The first ID change is free.

Before taking the plunge, however, know that there are issues associated with changing your ID, such as your previous handle remaining visible to you and your friends.

Parts of your game and applications may not function properly both online and offline. Reverting back should resolve most issues.
