Maurizio Sarri Admits He "Can't Do Anything" To Keep Majestic Hazard

Maurizio Sarri admitted that it would be impossible to replace Eden Hazard if he were to leave for Real Madrid.

But the 28-year-old's recent displays could give Chelsea a bargaining chip if Real Madrid make an approach this summer.

Tactical teething problems, transfer bans and Eden Hazard's imminent departure aside, the Blues have managed to climb to third place in the Premier League table following Monday night's win over West Ham.

Asked what he could do to fight to hold on to Hazard, Sarri, 60, told Sky Sports: "I cannot do anything, I think, because the club agrees..."

Unsurprisingly, Hazard was awarded man of the match, and the stats show he is performing on another level.

"We have to try something different [if he leaves], not find another Hazard".

Asked what he thought of the reported figure of £100m for Hazard, Sarri replied: "Too cheap".

From a personal point of view, I want to do as well as I can so I can be here for next season.

"We are trying to improve to become one of the best teams in England and as a effect in Europe but I think that I have to respect his decision". The Dutchman ended eight years of association with Arsenal without a title to his name, although his final season in north London did procure him the Golden Boot.

With trips to Liverpool and Manchester United to come in Chelsea's last five league games, much will depend on Hazard with Gonzalo Higuain showing little sign of hitting form.

On-loan Blues striker Gonzalo Higuain, a former Real player, also hinted Hazard could be off, saying: "When a player has a desire, it is hard to change his mind".

'If he wants to have another experience, we'll respect that.

"But we will try of course in any way to convince him".

Belgian football journalist Kristof Terreur has claimed that Eden Hazard has encouraged Real Madrid to make an offer for his signature. When he is able to play like this, we are lucky because it is easy to win.
