Eriksen: We threw it away in Premier League defeat to Southampton

Tottenham's winless run in the Premier League stretched to four games as Mauricio Pochettino's men threw away an early lead through Harry Kane to lose 2-1 at Southampton on Saturday.

Despite leading with 14 minutes left to play, Tottenham saw their hosts complete a late comeback via goals from Yan Valery and James Ward-Prowse.

Pochettino is due to sit in the stands when Spurs visit his former team Southampton after receiving a two-match touchline ban for his conduct following defeat at Burnley last month.

"For me to move to the next level or the last level, I think it's not only today to show a very professional performance how we showed".

"It's about arrogance in a bad way".

Tottenham reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League by knocking out Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund this week.

"If not, we are going to struggle and I think we can not compete only 45 minutes and then the other 45 minutes say, "OK, finished". I feel so disappointed".

Alli, who made his first appearance since the win at Fulham in January, admits Spurs need to "keep working" if they are to finish in the Premier League's top four.

"We put in a good solid performance against Fulham and at Manchester United we played well and should have come away with something more". That's why we're talking a lot in the last four and a half, five years. We live in the perception and reality.

"It is about competing better for the first goal if you want to be a contender for big things".
