Captain Marvel: Brie Larson Is Interested In All-Female Avengers Movie

In LA, she comes across a young Nick Fury, played by a digitally de-aged Samuel L. Jackson, whose infectious liveliness is a godsend.

The ongoing Kree-Skrulls war means Vers and the Kree have to destroy the "terrorist" Skrulls and their leader Talos (Ben Mendelsohn). But it succeeds in the same way that Thor succeeded in that it has the right actor in the right role, but the surrounding film is burdened with poor visual and narrative choices you tend to overlook because you're having fun with the character. Yes, Goose the Flerken (Chewie in the comics) steals the show. That began to change previous year with Black Panther and continues this week with the release of Captain Marvel. I get it, but as someone who exists on the intersection of race and gender, I also see how that discussion about gender and representation for all women skipped over the women of Black Panther and is being carried by Captain Marvel. That is all I'm saying because spoilers.

Brie Larson is an inspiration here. They love you. You know, so, it works out.

"She's insane strong", Larson says, chuckling. They'll say I'm getting paid off by the Disney/Marvel oligarchy. The movie is set in 1995, borrowing elements from Roy Thomas's comic, "Kree-Skrull War" (originally published as Avengers #89-97 in 1971), and follows Danvers as she becomes Captain Marvel. But Larsen connects with us instantly, and the film, wisely, just sort of stays out of her way and lets her take over. It's a lovely thing to watch. The end result is fun and thrilling, even if it's not always the most surprising. Jackson does a great job of giving us all of Fury's attitude, but a little less bitter and a little less jaded. You'll completely forget that this isn't how Samuel L. Jackson looks in 2019.

While the Marvel films has become known for mixing a decent dose of humour with the action, it's tended to be a lot of the dick-swinging kind; not surprising given that up until now the stories have been dominated by male characters. The film will focus on Agent Coulson and the early team of the organization.

Gonzalo HIGUAIN scores opening goal for Chelsea in win against Fulham
It was the Argentine's third league goal in five matches since joining Chelsea as he's slowly showing why they signed him. I could have done it in another way. "I know the man very well". "He is very clever, with a very good mentality".

U.S. imposes sanctions on Venezuela officials to pressure Nicolas Maduro
The six include Maj Gen Richard Jesus Lopez Vargas, the commander of the Venezuelan National Guard. His return opens the possibility that Venezuelan authorities will try to arrest him.

The India-Pakistan crisis: What we know
India had claimed that "several terrorists" were killed in preemptive action on the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) camp inside Pakistan. Ghafoor, the Pakistani military spokesman, said the strikes were aimed at "avoiding human loss and collateral damage".

Marvel fans are finally going to be introduced to the new member of the MCU family. As an adult, I've come to enjoy most comic book adaptations.

Okay, so is there a fly in the ointment? The Wrap's April Wolfe noted that one of the movie's strong points is how it "absolutely grounds itself in the '90s". Not upset about that at all. And without saying much, that cat is more important to the plot then you probably think... The actress, who is the first female superhero in the Marvel Universe, lit up red carpet in a custom, sparkling gold gown by Rodarte. We had a pretty good idea of the various beats that will be hit along the way, depending on the character.

The story gets a tad confusing as it flashes back and forth in time. The relationship between Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch) and Carol Danvers is attractive to watch, and something missing from a lot of films.

We'll have to wait and see until each one's release to know for sure... fingers crossed they do. And the film just screams "girl power", not the least of which is because it features the best female friendship the MCU has ever seen. See her full look here! In addition, the opening credits do something really lovely. As far as Captain Marvel goes as its own franchise, it will certainly be interesting to see how Marvel tackles future installments for this now overpowered but compelling godlike intergalactic warrior. We still don't know exactly what Season 6 will bring for our heroes, but that tension will get to Mack and his relationship with Yo-Yo (Natalia Cordova-Buckley).
