Heading into the 2018-19 season, the Wizards owed Porter more than $81 million after he signed a four-year, $106 million deal before the 2017-18 season.

The Washington Wizards are reportedly sending small forward Otto Porter to the Chicago Bulls for Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker, according to a report from National Basketball Association insider Shams Charania.

The Washington Wizards sure are an interesting National Basketball Association organization. Further, ESPN's Zach Lowe and Kevin Arnovitz, both reputable National Basketball Association insiders, said on a podcast Monday that the Wizards have not made Porter available. The Philadelphia 76ers made somewhat of a splash by acquiring Tobias Harris from the Los Angeles Clippers to boost their already loaded starting five, and now the Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls have gotten into the trade action as well.

Owner Ted Leonsis told WTOP last week his team would not trade away their core of Wall, Bradley Beal and Otto Porter. And, if the Bulls could land a quality point guard to pair with Zach LaVine this team could conceivably become a playoff contender as early as next season.

Parker is averaging 14.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game for the Bulls this season - though he's started just 17 games for the team.

Chicago was a clear seller entering the trade deadline and their move Wednesday confirmed that information. He shot 47.4 percent from the field and 32.5 percent from beyond the arc on almost three attempts from deep per game. Did the Wizards get enough for a two-way player of Porter's standing? He will help them and fits with their pieces-it's just that Chicago should be more interested in draft assets and cheaper young talent based on where they're at in the rebuild.

Both Portis and Parker can come off the books at year end with their expiring contracts. The biggest issue is that none of it is especially surprising.
