76ers acquire Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic in major trade with Clippers

The Philadelphia 76ers are pushing their chips all in this year. He should, upon joining the team, immediately slot in at power forward, a more natural fit for him after playing at the three for the Clippers most of the year.

Early Wednesday morning, the two teams reportedly struck a deal that could help both of them reach their goals.

The Clippers will also send Boban Marjanovic and Mike Scott to Philly for Landry Shamet, Wilson Chandler and Mike Muscala as well as a 2020 first-rounder, 2021 unprotected first via Miami and two second rounders to be in the mix to sign big-name players.

Harris, 26, is having a breakout season with the Clippers and is now averaging 20.7 points per game while shooting 42 percent from 3-point range.

He's a flawless fit for the Sixers' starting lineup, and along with Ben Simmons, J.J. Redick, Jimmy Butler and Joel Embiid, the Sixers now have arguably the most talented group in the Eastern Conference.

Harris is making $14.8 million this season and will become a free agent at the end of the season. He had a big game Tuesday, scoring 34 points and hitting the decisive basket in the final seconds of the Clippers' 117-115 road win over the Charlotte Hornets.

L.A. was jostling for position with the Utah Jazz for the seventh spot, but finds itself only a game ahead of the fast-chasing Sacramento Kings and 2.5 games over the struggling Los Angeles Lakers, who could make a last-minute push with LeBron James as the leader.

And the 76ers have identified Harris as a missing piece in their jigsaw as they look to emerge from the East and try to win their first National Basketball Association title since 1983.

Shamet is producing 8.3 points and 1.4 rebounds; Chandler 6.7 points and 4.7 rebounds; and Muscala 7.4 points and 4.3 rebounds.
