Here’s Knicks’ ‘Grand Plan’ After Trading Kristaps Porzingis

Anthony Davis took the National Basketball Association world by storm this week when he and agent Rich Paul made it clear to the New Orleans Pelicans they were looking for a trade and didn't have any intentions on signing a five-year, $240 million supermax contract extension this summer. Davis didn't suit up for the game and it's certainly going to be interesting to see if he continues to sit out if New Orleans doesn't end up trading him before the February 7 trade deadline.

It's a legitimate issue, as Ball is arguably the best young player that New Orleans could get back for Davis in the event he's flipped to the Lakers.

ESPN reported earlier this week that the Lakers were poised to make an aggressive play to acquire Davis from the Pelicans before next week's trade deadline.

Prior to Thursday, New Orleans general manager Dell Demps had been returning calls to other teams, just not Lakers GM Rob Pelinka, according to the report. If other teams do have to join in to get this trade to go through, it could prove beneficial to the New Orleans Pelicans depending on how it all shakes out.

As of now, the Pelicans see no reason to deliver Davis to the Lakers in a deal with a full season left on his contract - never mind do it on a timeline that benefits mostly the objectives of Los Angeles and Davis. It's rumored that Frank Ntilikina might be up for grabs anyway, so NY could definitely be interested in a move like this as long as they weren't too bitter about not winning the main prize in the Anthony Davis Sweepstakes.

The others are Trump's former national security adviser, his campaign chairman, his former personal lawyer and two other campaign aides.

And the Lakers have already reached out to New Orleans with numerous trade scenarios.

The final part of that is what stands out quite a bit at this moment, as Ball's camp made an interesting request shortly after the Davis trade talks began.

The Knicks have young players like Kristaps Porzingis, Kevin Knox, Allonzo Trier, and Mitchell Robinson at their disposal, not to mention the fact that there is a very good chance they will end up with a top-five pick in this summer's NBA Draft.

So, would Ainge trade for a player just for a year to try and win a title?

The Lakers know at this point in time they hold the advantage over anyone else, largely because the Boston Celtics can't bid until the summer.
