Blindfolded Utah Teen Crashes Car Doing The ‘Bird Box’ Challenge

The craze has come from the Netflix film Bird Box, starring Sandra Bullock.

That's the assessment from the Layton City Police Department, which posted photos of a car-truck collision in which one driver, a 17-year-old girl, was "blindfolded" by a knit cap she had pulled down over her eyes.

The girl, a 16-year-old passenger and the other driver were uninjured in the crash, Lieutenant Travis Lyman told local media.

The driver then lost control and slid into the westbound lane, striking a white passenger vehicle and a light pole near 675 Layton Parkway, Lyman said.

"Luckily no injuries", police wrote.

The 17-year-old driver, her 16-year-old passenger and the occupants of the other auto all escaped serious injury.

Police are reportedly weighing reckless driving charges against the teen.

Samsung smart TVs get iTunes movies and TV shows, Airplay 2 support
The Korean giant will have AirPlay support on its smart TVs, frame and serif lifestyle TVs, and other UHD and HD models. The company blamed the revenue reduction on lower-than-expected hardware sales but pointed to service revenue records.

It all started with the Netflix' movie Bird Box in late December.

While the company called for people not to hurt themselves, it kicked off its own Bird Box challenge of sorts - partnering with popular Australian Twitch streamers to play their games blindfolded.

Earlier this month, Netflix warned viewers not to replicate the movie, in which a mother and her children wear blindfolds to escape a sinister force that turns anyone who sees it suicidal.

These actions inspired Netflix to release a statement, urging people not to put themselves in danger with the viral challenge.

But the stakes behind the real-world version are far less urgent, nearly guaranteeing the likelihood that blindfolding yourself and trying to do things - especially around other people - will leave you (or them) in worse shape than before you started.

Lyman also warned drivers not to try the "Bird Box Challenge" for themselves: "With driving, the stakes are so high anyway that it's just inexcusable to do something as risky as this, not only to yourself but everyone else on the road".
