Executive produced by Dream Hampton, the docu-series "Surviving R. Kelly" detailed accounts from people in Kelly's circle, including the singer's brother, Bruce, who said Kelly had a "preference" for young women and singer Sparkle (the aunt of the 14-year-old in the sex tape) who testified against him in court.

The six-part series includes interviews with R. Kelly associates, relatives, and accusers - many of whom claim they were teenagers at the time they were abused, according to The New York Times.

As Complex point out, when "Do What U Want" was first released, it was criticised for being so sexually explicit, given the allegations around Kelly.

In addition to Russell's threats, police have issued an arrest warrant for Kelly's former manager, #JamesMason. The disgraced singer was surrounded by screaming fans and even grabbed the mic at one point to say, "It's my motherf**cking birthday and I don't give a f**k about what's going on!" - clearly referring to the fallout from the Surviving R. Kelly documentary series.

TMZ reported that police received a call informing them that Kelly was at the club and there was a warrant for his arrest, but after officers arrived at the venue and made contact with the singer, they were informed there actually was no warrant.

Savage previously denied allegations that Kelly kept her against her will, despite claims made by her family, who have not seen her in more than two years. "People know if they are a victim of a crime to contact the police".
