Jimmy Butler "aggressively challenged" coach Brett Brown

ESPN's Ramona Shelburne and Adrian Wojnarowski report that Butler has "aggressively challenged" Philadelphia 76ers coach Brett Brown about his role in the team's offense and the system in place. Nevertheless, the franchise's full focus and resources remain on making this new partnership work this season and beyond.

The report also states that the guard has met privately with Brown - who is already in charge of managing a delicate relationship between Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid - and manager Elton Brand about his views of the 76ers' offence.

"I think that we have a really unselfish group of guys who are gonna make that extra pass", Jimmy Butler told the media during his introductory press conference on November 13.

Jimmy Butler was unhappy with the direction things were heading before he forced the Minnesota Timberwolves to trade him, and it appears he has picked up right where he left off with his new team.

Butler missed the team's last game against the Phoenix Suns as well as their practice on Friday with an upper respiratory infection, and is now listed as questionable for their next game against the Dallas Mavericks.

Philadelphia acquired Butler, a four-time All-Star, last month with an eye on making a run to the National Basketball Association championship.

Brown had already spent significant time working on the sometimes-tenuous relationship between Simmons and Embiid, and those challenges have been compounded by the urgency to introduce Butler into the Sixers' dynamic.

Butler's specific concerns have centered around his role in Philly's free-flowing offense, as he wants to run more pick-and-roll sets and isolation. And Butler's shaky transition to life with the Sixers is causing some concern about his long-term fit with the organization, league sources told ESPN.

Butler, 29, can become a free agent this summer, and the organization's preference has been to re-sign him to an extension.

"We're coming together", Brown said after Monday's victory over the Clippers.

There's always a feeling out period when acquiring a new player, especially in season. "That's why I lost it".
