MLB Requests Return of Campaign Funds from Cindy Hyde-Smith

Cindy Hyde-Smith once promoted a measure that praised a Confederate soldier's effort to "defend his homeland" and pushed a revisionist view of the Civil War. I am the candidate that wants to move MS into the future.

More than 43,000 absentee ballots have been requested for the runoff, and that number could increase as circuit clerks continue compiling information, the MS secretary of state's office said Saturday. President Donald Trump will travel to MS on Monday to attend two rallies for Hyde-Smith, and Mississippi's Republican establishment is trying to push her to victory.

At a campaign event on November 2, Hyde-Smith was caught on camera alongside one of her supporters saying that if he ever invited her to attend a public hanging, she'd sit in the front row. There is usually a large decrease in ballots cast between the first election and a runoff.

The Popular Information report also stated Charles B. Johnson, the co-owner of the Giants, recently donated $2,700, the legal maximum to Hyde-Smith; and his wife, Ann, also contributed the maximum to her campaign.

Major League Baseball came under fire over the weekend when word surfaced that the organization donated to the campaign of Mississippi Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, but officials say they have asked that the contribution be returned.

She is up against Democrat Mike Espy, a former congressman and US agriculture secretary who is seeking to become Mississippi's first black senator since Reconstruction.

The MLB made its contribution to her campaign weeks after the senator made those comments. And they foreshadow the messaging dissonance that could mark the next two years of his presidency as he faces a divided Congress - a Republican-majority Senate and a Democrat-controlled House - after two years of across-the-board Republican power.

Thad Cochran, who retired in April.

Is she facing other issues?

Many have taken the remark to be inappropriate due to Mississippi's history of racial violence.

The special election victor will serve the final two years of Cochran's term.

"I have met with the president, and I proudly support him in negotiating these trades", she said.

The photo shows the school's mascot dressed in what appears to be a Confederate uniform holding a Confederate flag.

On immigration, Trump defended the US response to the border clash on Sunday, when USA agents fired tear gas at migrants, some of whom had attempted to climb through fencing and wire separating the countries. She and her campaign have refused to talk about the Confederate hat and have called the school issue a personal attack on her family meant to draw attention away from issues. The caption on the post read, "Mississippi history at its best!"

"For anyone that was offended by my comments, I certainly apologize", she said.
