But in Florida, where incumbent Democratic Sen.

Florida's governor's race also looks headed to a mandatory recount, as the votes that have trickled in this week have also pushed the race between Republican Ron DeSantis and Democrat Andrew Gillum under the 0.5 percent threshold.

Scott, who yesterday sued two South Florida election supervisors, vowed to meet Nelson's challenge in court.

In the Senate race, Scott had a lead over Nelson Friday afternoon of just more than 16,000 votes, or 0.19 percent, according to The Associated Press.

Governor Rick Scott, as outgoing governor, said at a news conference Thursday night that he was asking the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to investigate elections offices in the Democratic strongholds of Palm Beach and Broward counties, questioning whether they were trying to inflate the Democratic vote. "Every Floridian should be concerned that there may be rampant fraud happening in Palm Beach and Broward counties".

Scott filed a lawsuit Thursday evening against Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes, accusing her office of withholding "crucial voter information," thereby calling into question the validity of the election process.

The newspaper's report indicated that Broward is the only county to show this trend, and that this could be due to the Senate race being listed in the lower left hand corner of the ballot, below the instructions.

Today the Florida Department of Law Enforcement stated, "This morning we spoke with the Department of State and they indicated they had no criminal allegations of fraud".

"Tonight, Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Buchar announced that she is refusing to comply with a court order to submit overvotes and undervotes to the Palm Beach County Canvassing Board for review under the court-ordered deadline", Chris Hartline, Scott for Florida Spokesman, said in a statement. "Florida voted for Rick Scott!".

Meanwhile, Florida Senator Marco Rubio isn't taking the pressure off corrupt Broward County officials and continues to point out their history of "finding ballots", destroying ballots, breaking election law and more.

United States midterm elections: A blow, or clear win for Trump?
Trump spent today at the White House, tweeting, making calls, monitoring the races and meeting with his political team. If all that makes the midterms a success for Democrats, it still wasn't the censure party officials had hoped for.

The campaign says it's monitoring the situation and preparing for a possible state-mandated recount.

There are a number of lawsuits already filed by both sides over the counting process. "Since that time, it has become clear there are many more uncounted ballots than was originally reported", the campaign said.

For this and other reasons, lawyers for Nelson and Gillum made a decision to call on the state of Florida to honor its statutory obligation to perform a recount.

DeSantis declined to discuss prospects for a recount, telling reporters he was "very proud to be elected".

"We do not have an active investigation", Plessinger said.

In Georgia, where Republican Brian Kemp declared victory in the governor's contest on Wednesday with a narrow lead, campaign officials for Democrat Stacey Abrams have vowed to pursue litigation to ensure all votes are counted.

Neither Scott nor any other Republicans have pointed to specific malfeasance in this election, let alone evidence of fraud, beyond the slow vote count.

Nelson said, "It's wrong and it goes against every value we have in our country".

The state is infamous for its role in the 2000 presidential election, which was won by Republican George W. Bush after a five-week recount drama that awarded him Florida's electoral votes by a 537-ballot margin over Democrat Al Gore.
