Three children killed while boarding school bus in Indiana

Three children were killed and another was seriously injured Tuesday morning when they were struck by a vehicle as they were about to board a school bus, police said.

Slocum says three of the children died at the scene and the fourth was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital.

ISP allege Shepherd didn't come to a stop on S.R. 25 when the bus was stopped, killing three children and leaving another in critical condition. Police confirm the deceased siblings attended Mentone Elementary School in nearby Kosciusko County.

A GoFundMe has been set up for Xzavier, Mason and Alivia's family and Maverik and his family.

Police have confirmed the children were boarding the bus and the stop-arm was out at the time.

Shepherd was held at the Fulton County Jail on a surety bond of $15,000.

"The one thing I'd like to tell people we all have a responsibility to share the road in a safe manner", Sgt. Slocum said, according to NBC. The arrest warrant alleges three felony counts of reckless homicide and a misdemeanor count of passing a school bus with the stop arm extended, causing injury.
