Saudi Crown Prince Acknowledges Khashoggi Murder for First Time

Saudi state media released pictures taken of Salah meeting and shaking hands with Saudi Arabia's King Salman bin Abdelaziz.

So far, Saudi authorities have arrested 18 people in connection with the killing and fired top security officials considered close to MBS. It's the latest change in the narrative over Khashoggi's death-reversing an earlier Saudi statement that Khashoggi died after a "fistfight" inside the consulate.

"On this occasion, and from this place where the spirit of Jamal has been lost, we clearly state that we will not accept compromises in the case of his murder", the group outside the consulate said in a statement, read out in Arabic, Turkish and English.

The reports have claimed Khashoggi was tortured and killed by a 15-member "hit squad" from Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi prosecution had received information from Turkish investigators suggesting that the suspects meant to kill Khashoggi, and would continue its probe in light of those findings, the official Saudi Press Agency said on Thursday.

Khashoggi, 59, was a contributing opinion writer for The Post who was living in Virginia after leaving Saudi Arabia because of fear about his safety.

"This was a very, very painful incident for all Saudis and everybody else on the planet", he said of the Khashoggi killing.

Initially Saudi officials claimed Khashoggi had left the diplomatic mission unharmed; however, under Turkish pressure joined by the questions from the global community, it was forced to confess that he had been killed in a premeditated murder.
