Greenwood has a mosquito control policy of its own, based on four pillars: Community education to reduce the potential for mosquitoes, preventative application of insecticides to attack mosquitoes prior to their emergence as adults, preventative application of insecticides to attack the adult mosquito population and trapping and monitoring mosquitoes in high concentration areas.

A key step in the prevention of West Nile is reduction of mosquito breeding grounds. Keep them outside by having tightly-fitting screens on all of your windows and doors.

Avoid activities outside at dusk and dawn.

Some tips include: draining standing water to stop mosquitoes from multiplying and covering skin with clothes or repellent. Check the product label for instructions on proper use. Bug repellents containing DEET or Icaridin should be used on anyone over two years of age.
