Liverpool 'offer £62m for Alisson'

Alisson Becker now knows just how serious Liverpool are about bringing him to Anfield this summer.

Liverpool have tested Roma's resolve with a €70m bid for Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson. Real Madrid, another possible suitor, have yet to make contact with Roma.

Liverpool have reportedly chose to lodge an offer of £62m for Roma goalkeeper Alisson.

Chelsea are a club also believed to be interested in the players services, with Thibaut Courtouis potentially making a move to Real Madrid after his World Cup performances.

A Liverpool move for Alisson before the end of the summer window seems unlikely, with the Reds set to give Danny Ward, the third-choice goalkeeper last season, a chance to stake his claim for the No.1 spot.

Another Brazil worldwide in Liverpool's sights is midfielder Bernard, who is also wanted by Arsenal and Everton.

Alisson has always been Jurgen Klopp's preferred solution for the problematic goalkeeping position at Liverpool, with the manager's interest pre-dating Loris Karius' calamitous performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League final. Florentino Pérez's interest in a new goalkeeper is no secret after high profile mistakes by Keylor Navas against Juventus and Bayern Munich last season.

Alisson, 25, has been with Roma since joining from Brazilian side Internacional in 2016 and made 37 Serie A appearances last season.

The newspaper says Roma are yet to respond to Liverpool's opening bid but although they are holding out for a fee closer to £66m, an agreement is close to be finalised over what would be a world-record deal for a goalkeeper.
