Jared Leto to Star in and Produce His Own Joker Standalone Movie

All of this might explain why, according to sources at Variety, Warner Bros is reportedly thinking about devoting a whole movie to Jared Leto's incarnation of the Joker.

No plot details have been announced yet, but Jared Leto has also signed on to be an executive producer for the movie, which could be... interesting.

Per Variety, it looks like we won't be starving for Joker movies anytime soon as Jared Leto's Joker will now receive his own standalone feature that is wholly unconnected from the Todd Phillips-directed origin feature that was announced previous year. Something like Suicide Squad can kind of stand on its own wobbly feet, but the big draw for that film was the concept of bad guys sort of doing good, and the debut of beloved characters like Robbie's Harley Quinn.

Joaquin Phoenix has been in talks to play the Joker in this movie.

It's unknown at this time where in Warner Bros. and DC's film release timeline any of these movies will take place, let alone the DCEU's canonical timeline.

Along with those there's Suicide Squad 2, directed by Gavin O'Connor, which will star Robbie and is again rumoured to feature Leto, and a previously announced Joker/Harley Quinn movie, from Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, in which both actors would star.

No word on how today's news about Jared Leto's Joker movie will affect that project. And given how not everyone was able to stomach the little that they did see of Leto's Joker makes it even more confusing.

Do you have any interest in seeing two different movies about two different Jokers?

Leto and the studio are now looking for a writer for the project, but there's no start date in place.
