Roseanne Barr lashes out at TV son following cancellation

When Channing Dungey, the first black president of ABC Entertainment, canceled "Roseanne" on Tuesday, she called star Roseanne Barr's racist comment about former Obama White House adviser Valerie Jarrett "abhorrent" and "repugnant." Barr apologized and said she had been affected by the sleeping aid Ambien when she wrote the tweet.

Here's one side effect Roseanne Barr may not have expected from linking her racist tweet to Ambien: snark from the drug's manufacturer.

Barr announced shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, "I apologize".

In other tweets, Barr said that she was exhausted of "being attacked and belittled more than other comedians who have said worse", and asked for people not to boycott ABC, saying the network has the right to "do what they wish".

Walt Disney Co's ABC network on Tuesday cancelled her Roseanne reboot.

President Donald Trump weighed in on the Roseanne Barr controversy with a complaint Wednesday that he never got an apology from ABC with an apology for the 'for the terrible statements made and said about me on ABC'. She also said she was leaving Twitter.

Another NBA Finals brings another huge challenge for LeBron
In his 15 year in the NBA, James is still averaging a league-high 33.9 points per game (PPG) in the playoffs so far. Jayson Tatum scored 24 points to lead the Celtics, who lost at home for the first time this postseason in 11 games.

Hanley Ramirez designated for assignment by Red Sox
There are only four players with at least 150 plate appearances who have gotten at least 80 percent of their playing time at DH. On the flip side, Dombrowski says Cora assuaged any worry that bumping Ramirez would harm chemistry in the clubhouse.

Oil investors fear Opec will turn taps back on
Crude oil prices fell Wednesday after the Energy Information Adminstration reported a massive increase in crude oil stockpiles. When OPEC, Russia and other major producers meet in June "we will do what is necessary" to reassure buyers, the minister said.

One Twitter user shared a fan-made poster for the imagined new series along with a tweet that read, "Can ABC make this happen?"

Another deleted tweet had Barr quoting fellow comedian and podcaster Joe Rogan - whose The Joe Rogan Experience podcast she is slated to appear on on Friday (June 1) - writing, "I think Joe Rogan is right about ambien".

Roseanne still acknowledged her tweet was not in good taste asked her fans not to defend her sleep-induced comments.

Barr's agent also dropped her and several services pulled "Roseanne" reruns. The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of ABC and this station. But much of its progress would have been threatened if it looked the other way at Barr's tweet. For one thing, Barr's comment about Jarrett was part of a long history of publicly making racist and anti-Semitic comments and spreading conspiracy theories.

In addition to her remark about Jarrett, Barr is also being criticized over her recent attacks on both Chelsea Clinton and billionaire George Soros, who is a prominent donor to Democratic campaigns.

But cancelling "Roseanne" is "like taking off "All in the Family" or "I Love Lucy" or Andy Griffith at their zenith", he said.
