The Wildcats were the last team to qualify for match play after beating Baylor in a playoff in a stroke-play playoff on Sunday afternoon.

The eighth-seeded Wildcats waxed hot from the get-go of the semifinals behind victories from Haley Moore, Gigi Stoll, and Sandra Nordaas, giving them a shot at their third national championship against Alabama. On Tuesday, she earned 3&2 and 3&1 victories in matches against UCLA and Stanford, respectively.

Arizona upset No. 1 seeded UCLA, 3-2 in the quarterfinals before facing Stanford in the semis.

Arizona has two NCAA titles in women's golf, the most recent in 2000. Alabama would make things close, extending the match all the way to the 18th hole, but luckily the Wildcats were able to escape, winning one up, and tying the match at 2-2. Moore squared off with Alabama's Lakareber Abe in what would end up being a dramatic finish. That gave her additional determination when it shifted to team play.

Arizona was one putt away from being eliminated at the NCAA Women's golf championship. Abe's approach shot landed in a bunker just in front of the green while Moore's went left off the fringe, barely rolling into the rough. She had three birdies in five-hole stretch on the back, almost making her second hole-in-one of the year at the par-3, 180-yard 16th. Moore conceding Abe's par putt, she would have the opportunity to win the championship if she makes her putt. Moore followed with a pure stroke that found the center of the cup.

"When I got to one down, I just told myself there is a lot of golf left", Moore said. In the four years since the NCAA switched to match play, the No. 8 seed has never advanced out of the quarterfinals.

"We've all gotta realize if you play competitive golf at this level, you're going to lose sometimes", Potter said.

John VanDerLaan of Florida Southern College won the individual national title with a 54-hole total of 17-under 199. They have made me a better person and player. "When I have played match play, I felt good...because most of the time I just felt like I had more drama in me and I just play a little more aggressive". "When we got here - getting through regionals could be a bear - I knew anything was possible". I think for us even just winning a national championship would get us to the 10-win milestone for a year, and I think there's only been one other Oklahoma State team to ever do that. "We played solid this entire spring, yet we didn't play our best". On he brink of elimination, the Wildcats saved their season thanks to Bianca Pagdanganan's eagle on Monday, two days later, they're National Champions!
